Meet the Board

The Professor MCM Modiba Scholarship Fund is governed by a Board of Directors comprising professionals serving the healthcare sector and members of Professor Modiba’s family. All directors serve on a voluntary, unpaid basis.

Director
Professor Maud Modiba

Prof Lebitsi Maud Modiba is the widow of Prof MCM Modiba. She served as a Professor of Nursing at the University of South Africa until retiring in 2021. She holds a PhD in Nursing (Midwifery) from the University of Johannesburg (2003), has contributed chapters to several books, published numerous articles in national and international journals and regularly presented at conferences, nationally and internationally. In her retirement, she continues to supervise master’s and doctoral students.

Matome Modiba

Matome Modiba is an investment banker at ABSA Group where he focuses on sourcing and funding projects on the African continent. The son of Prof MCM Modiba, Matome has a BCom in Finance and Economics from Wits University (2006), a BCom Honours in Business Management from Unisa and a Master’s in Commerce (Development Finance) from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (2019).

Flora Modiba

Flora Modiba is a Director and attorney at Stegmanns Incorporated. The eldest child of Prof MCM Modiba, she provides leadership to the Fund in her role as Chairperson. She holds an LLB degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (2003) and was admitted as an attorney of the Pretoria High Court in 2005 and as a conveyancer in 2008.

Leah Modiba

Mokgadi Leah Modiba is a dynamic and results-driven IT service delivery specialist with a solid background in ITSM implementation and service delivery excellence. Leah has 17 years of experience in IT operations with expertise in project management and vendor management. She has a BTech in Information Technology (Business Applications) from Tshwane University of Technology (2005) and an MBA from Henley Business School (2023).

Hilda Maselekwana Malahlela

Hilda Malahlela is a seasoned healthcare practitioner with special insight into the training and administrative infrastructure of the private and public healthcare sectors. She has completed numerous professional courses as well as a Diploma in General Nursing (1988), Diploma in Midwifery (1989) and Diploma in Community Nursing Science (1996). She has been employed as a unit manager at Life Brenthurst Clinic since 1990.

Thabang Mantutle

Thabang Mantutle is a founding Board member. He is the Executive Director of Leo Legacy Holdings, which has interests in management consulting, insurance, hygiene & cleaning services and supplementary education. He has extensive experience in the financial services, medical and marketing fields.

Patrick Lelahane

Ngaka Patrick Lelahane served several terms as a local councillor in Polokwane and has a deep understanding of community development and philanthropy. An active member of the community who has served on numerous boards, including FABCOS and Seshego Hospital, he has a Bachelor of Administration in Local Government degree from the University of Limpopo (2008) and numerous qualifications in electrical engineering, public administration and human resources.
